This is a RP journal for the Old World of Darkness version of Vlad the Impaler. His mpdern vampire history has been tweaked slightly to fit him into a WoD/GTA crossover. His human history is based heavily on historical accounts. His PB is Marton Csokas. Player is over 18; character is older than America.

History
The man known most commonly as Dracula is one of the hardest, toughest, most uncompromisingly ambitious rulers ever to have lived. Although he ended up known largely for his terrifying brutality everywhere else, he is still known as a national hero in Romania and Hungary, for good reasons. In an era of squabbling noblemen, brutal church policies, plague, starvation, and predatory Turkish occupiers, Vlad III actually did everything he could to protect, reunite, and reform his country. Of course, he did it using brutal totalitarian policies which included "firing" (as in executing) most of the nobles who had bled his country dry. But that was, and is, Dracula for you: a really, really scary guy who also has honor and high ideals.
As a vampire, Dracula is a member of the Old Clan of the Tzimisce, an immortality he captured for himself in a spectacular ambush that left his sire Lambach Ruthven existing in fear of him. He spent much of his existence in isolation, as did many of his kind, experimenting with his powers and growing in knowledge and experience while feeding sparsely on the villages within his protectorate. Eventually, in the 1800s, he attempted to move in on the territory of the Prince of London, desiring to sample a more cosmopolitan life. It ended in an embarrassing disaster for him, which Prince Mithras cheerfully had immortalized in Bram Stoker's less than flattering work.
Having faked his death to escape London, Dracula became concerned with the moral degeneracy that he had experienced from many decades of being both vampire and voivode. He joined the Inconnu, a group of ancient, secretive, enlightenment-seeking vampires who helped him improve his condition and drag him back from the edge of becoming a complete monster. He became one of their most supportive members, granting them Hunendora Castle, his most powerful intact ancestral fortress, as their secret training grounds. He also became guardian of this castle, risking his newfound morals again and again to ensure the safety of Hunendora and the Inconnu.
Eventually, powerful spells were laid around the castle, protecting it and allowing Dracula the freedom to travel again. His own ambitions now share equal time with his duties in protecting Inconnu abroad. Unfortunately that usually involves brutally killing Tremere or other enemies of the Inconnu, which weakens his hold on his Humanity all over again. He does not mind, seeing it as the same sacrifice which he made in life. In order for other Inconnu to seek spiritual cleansing safely, he must commit acts which keep him polluted. This is normal. In his world, people can only live peaceably through the protection of violent men, and he is the best man for the job.
Most recently he has been visiting the United States in an attempt to track down some of his missing descendants. It is the first "vacation" he has had from serving the Inconnu in a century. Of course, he already spent the first portion of it in London...toasting the mysterious disappearance and presumed death of Mithras.
